Storefront door pile weatherstrip is specified around compatible aluminum door stiles and frame channels where the brush needs to contact the opposing surface while allowing the door to close. Qingdao Gleam Hardwares supplies OEM brush pile strips for commercial door fabricators, hardware distributors and replacement projects, with the cross-section matched to a drawing or sample.

Buyers may call this product wool pile weatherstripping, fuzzy door seal or brush pile. Our proposed pile material is polypropylene (PP); “wool pile” is a trade description here, not a claim that the fibers are natural wool. This supply route is for the replaceable strip. Aluminum astragals, door stiles and complete doors are outside the strip quotation unless separately agreed.

Where to use storefront door brush pile

  • Meeting stiles on paired aluminum entrance doors that already include a suitable pile-retaining channel.
  • Frame or jamb channels on compatible commercial doors, after checking the contact path through opening and closing.
  • Replacement supply for distributors who can provide the old strip and an undamaged section of the receiving profile.

Confirm the seal position on a door photo. A meeting-stile strip, a threshold brush and a glazing gasket have different fitting requirements. For an under-door application, compare our high-pile door bottom brush seal.

Specifications to confirm for an OEM order

Item Selection and order information
Pile material PP brush pile; identify any required treatment in the inquiry.
Backing width Common metric requests include 4.8, 5.8, 6.8, 7 and 9 mm. Select against the channel drawing; these are selectable sizes, not an interchangeable set.
Pile height Specify exposed pile height and total height separately. Common 5, 6, 7 and 9 mm requests can be reviewed; final combinations follow the approved sample.
Fitting Slide-in strip for a compatible retaining channel. Confirm backing thickness, slot opening and access from the profile end.
Fin and treatment Plain or finned pile and siliconized options are specified separately, subject to the required cross-section.
Color and packing Black or grey sample matching; state the requested metres per reel, total metres and label requirements.
Commercial terms EXW quotation per metre. Free samples available; confirm sample specification and shipping arrangements. Bulk quantity, packing and lead time follow the selected specification.

If the original drawing uses inches, retain the original decimal size in your RFQ. A .270-inch backing is 6.858 mm, not 1/4 inch. Use the pile weatherstrip inch-to-mm backing guide before comparing nominal metric alternatives.

Approve the fit in the complete door

  • Measure an unworn section of the old backing and the receiving channel. Record the channel opening, internal width and depth.
  • Measure the working gap at the top, middle and bottom of the closed door. Check alignment before using a taller brush to compensate for a varying gap.
  • Install a sample in the actual profile and check retention, contact, closing movement and latch operation through the full travel.
  • Approve the drawing revision and reference sample before bulk manufacture. Request the applicable test method and acceptance criteria if the project requires rated performance.

Our T-slot versus kerf fitting guide helps identify the retaining geometry. A flat slide-in backing cannot be selected only by the visible pile width when the original seal has a barbed kerf leg.

Questions from commercial door buyers

Can you match an old storefront door seal?

Send a clean strip sample plus a profile offcut or dimensioned section. Include photos showing where it sits on the door. Sample matching is more useful than a door brand name alone; compatibility is confirmed for the submitted profile.

How do I specify AAMA 701/702 and performance requirements?

For projects specifying AAMA 701/702, send the required edition, pile specification and documentation needs with your inquiry. Include water-repellent treatment, pile recovery, air-sealing or acoustic requirements so the proposed construction and project documentation can be reviewed together. Requirements for a rated door assembly should include the complete door-system specification.

What should a bulk inquiry include?

Provide backing width and thickness, pile height, fin arrangement, color, annual or order quantity in metres, reel length and delivery country. We will confirm the quotation against those details.
