Siliconized PP pile weatherstrip is selected when the yarn treatment is an explicit part of the window or door specification. The pile remains polypropylene; silicone is a treatment applied to the fibers. This matters when importers compare two rolls that look alike but were quoted with different treatment requirements.
Gleam supports model selection and OEM order review for aluminum sliding-window fabricators, door-system suppliers and hardware distributors. State the required treatment together with the backing geometry, pile height, color and operating conditions so the quotation describes a reproducible product.

Specify the treatment and the structure separately
A fin and a silicone treatment serve different roles. The fin is a physical barrier between pile rows; siliconization changes the fiber surface. A treated pile can therefore be specified with or without a fin, subject to the selected model. Do not use “silicone pile” as a complete ordering description.
The usual purpose of siliconization in this product family is water repellency and suitable fiber contact in sliding applications. It does not turn the brush into a solid silicone-rubber gasket. Weather performance still depends on the profile, contact, drainage, corners and installation.
| Purchase parameter | Information to put on the order |
|---|---|
| Fiber and treatment | PP pile; silicone-treated or siliconized explicitly stated. Approve a retained sample. |
| Mounting | Groove-in backing for a compatible profile; confirm any adhesive-backed requirement separately. |
| Backing geometry | Width and thickness, retaining groove and insertion direction from the drawing. |
| Height | Pile height and total height separately; add fin height if a fin is required. |
| Fin option | Non-fin or fin-pile construction as quoted; specify fin material and flexibility. |
| Colors | Black, grey/gray, white, brown or a reviewed custom shade; approve the selected shade. |
| Supply format | Roll length, reel dimensions, winding direction, label and protective carton agreed per section. |
| Validation | Trial in the real profile; any water, UV or durability test defined by method and acceptance criteria. |
Where a siliconized brush weather strip fits
Typical enquiries concern moving contacts on aluminum windows and sliding doors, including exterior-facing frame sides. Confirm that the frame retains the backing and that the pile contacts the mating face throughout travel. The sample should slide freely enough for the specified assembly; forcing extra pile into a tight gap can impair operation.
For a bathroom window or another moisture-exposed location, specify cleaning products, wetting and drainage conditions. A brush at a moving frame edge is not a waterproof seal for a shower enclosure joint or a substitute for the correct compression gasket.
Buying checks that help prevent inconsistent repeat orders
- Use a unique sample reference for each treatment and construction.
- Record the backing width, pile-height convention and optional fin dimensions.
- Compare samples in the same profile and with the same working clearance.
- Agree how treatment will be identified in production records and on the packing label.
- Keep an approved retained sample with the quotation and order revision.

Siliconized, silicified, wool pile and mohair terminology
Some buying lists say “silicified PP weather strip” or “silicone wool pile brush seal strip.” Use siliconized PP pile weatherstrip or silicone-treated polypropylene pile on the technical specification. Wool pile and mohair are also used as trade search terms; they do not establish the fiber composition of this PP product.
Packaging for B2B supply
Choose roll length and reel size for your cutting, assembly or distribution process. Protect the pile from prolonged crushing, identify each size and treatment separately, and agree the number of rolls and gross-weight limits per carton. MOQ, sample terms and production timing depend on the selected section, treatment, packing and order quantity.
Procurement questions
Can I identify siliconization from a photo?
No. Use the quotation, approved sample and relevant material or treatment record. A glossy fiber or a grey color is not proof of treatment.
Does a fin mean the yarn is siliconized?
No. Specify fin construction and yarn treatment as separate fields. If both are needed, approve them together on one model.
Is it waterproof or soundproof?
Those are assembly-level requirements. Send the target test method and result for review; this page does not claim a universal water-ingress or acoustic rating.
Can existing rolls be matched?
Send a short intact sample, the receiving profile and the previous dimensional specification. Tell us which characteristics must remain unchanged, including treatment and packing.
Standard dimensions and custom production
Common market sizes can be produced. Special backing widths, pile heights and lengths can be manufactured from your sample or drawing. State the mounting method and height convention with each size; the same nominal width and height do not make different backing profiles interchangeable.
Request a B2B quotation
Send the profile drawing, backing width, pile height, fin requirement, treatment specification, quantity and destination.
