Roller shutter guide rail brush seal is a pile strip selected for the side-guide channel beside a moving shutter curtain. Qingdao Gleam Hardwares supplies brush seal strips for OEM profile matching, with the backing retained in the rail and the pile reach chosen for the actual curtain-to-guide clearance.

This page covers the replaceable pile insert for shutter fabricators and component distributors. It does not include the guide rail, motor, shutter curtain or a sensing safety edge. A channel drawing and curtain section are the starting point for a useful quotation.

Select by guide geometry and curtain movement

A tall brush may look suitable when the shutter is stationary but can drag when the curtain travels. Check the narrowest and widest working clearances, the slat profile and the direction of contact. The selected pile should work through the travel without being used to compensate for a misaligned or damaged guide.

Order item What to specify
Application Roller shutter side-guide insert; identify the guide material and curtain profile.
Material PP brush pile. State any required stiffness or treatment for sample review.
Backing Common 7 and 9 mm backing requests can be reviewed, along with drawing-specific sizes. Confirm thickness and retention geometry.
Pile reach Common 10, 15 and 23 mm height requests can be reviewed. Height is selected from the working gap; no universal maximum gap is claimed.
Mounting Slide-in backing for compatible T-slot or retaining channels. Supply the channel cross-section and end-retention details.
Color Black or grey sample matching; confirm the agreed sample before production.
Packing and quantity State total metres, metres per reel or cut length, required labels and carton preferences.
Quotation EXW price per metre confirmed for the approved size, construction, quantity and packing.

These sizes describe options for inquiry, not every combination shown in the photographs. For a floor-level sweep rather than a guide insert, use the door bottom brush seal route. For entrance-door meeting stiles, compare storefront door pile weatherstrip.

A practical sample approval sequence

  • Send the rail drawing or profile offcut together with the curtain or slat section. Mark the proposed brush position on the cross-section.
  • Record the free gap along the guide and identify joints, fasteners or edges that might contact the backing or pile.
  • Try the proposed strip in a short rail section first. Check that it inserts without forcing and remains retained in the intended direction.
  • Test the assembled shutter through full travel with the selected sample. Review drag, pile contact, retention and any visible wear with the equipment supplier.
  • Confirm the final cross-section, material, packing and any required inspection criteria in the purchase specification.

For the mounting difference, read T-slot versus kerf pile weatherstrip. When a rail drawing is dimensioned in inches, use our inch-to-mm weatherstrip size guide and retain the original drawing tolerance.

Procurement questions

How do I specify dust control and noise-reduction requirements?

Brush contact helps close a guide clearance. For dust control, noise reduction, water-repellent treatment or pile recovery requirements, send the operating environment and your project acceptance criteria. Review the selected construction in the complete shutter guide during sample approval.

Can I order by “9 × 23 mm shutter brush” alone?

Please identify what each dimension means. We need backing width, backing thickness, exposed pile height and the receiving channel. A nominal 9 × 23 label does not show how the backing is held or whether the brush will drag on your curtain.

Can you supply bulk reels for an extrusion line?

Tell us your reel-length preference, total metres, feed arrangement and label format. Packing and sample approval are confirmed with the quote; reel length is not assumed from a photograph.

Is a harder or denser pile always better?

The brush must balance contact with movement. Specify the working conditions and compare samples in the actual guide. Increasing stiffness or height without a trial can change operating resistance.

Return to the brush seal category for window, door and other strip applications, or use drawing and sample matching for an unfamiliar profile.
