Match the Caster to the Equipment Thread
A threaded-stem TPR caster is specified around the screw connection in the equipment base. It is a useful option for trolley frames, workbenches, commercial furniture and instrument stands where a four-hole plate does not suit the mounting point. Gleam supports common market dimensions and custom matching from your sample or drawing, with the stem, wheel and bracket reviewed together.
Use this page for an interface-led quotation. M12 screw casters, threaded screw stem swivel casters and castors with threaded stem and brake are related requests, but the thread diameter is only one part of the fit. Thread pitch, usable length, seating face, retention method and installed height must also be specified.
Common Size Starting Points
Common market dimensions can be produced, and special sizes can be developed from your sample or drawing. The dimensions below are ordering options, not measurements taken from the photos. Confirm the complete assembly drawing, load rating and mounting fit before approving an order.
| Nominal diameter | Common wheel width | Threaded mounting request |
|---|---|---|
| 3 inch / 75 mm | 32 mm | M12 or sample-matched thread; specify pitch and stem length |
| 4 inch / 100 mm | 32 mm | M12 screw option for trolley or workbench interface review |
| 5 inch / 125 mm | 32 mm | Threaded stem with or without a specified brake function |
Inch labels are common trade names. Specify the required diameter in millimetres: 3, 4 and 5 inch products may be offered as 75, 100 and 125 mm, or as exact imperial dimensions. These are not automatically interchangeable.
M10 and other thread sizes can be reviewed against the equipment drawing. An M12 designation identifies a nominal 12 mm metric thread; it does not specify pitch or length. Confirm metric versus imperial threads before placing a repeat order.
The Measurements That Prevent a Wrong Replacement
| Measurement | Buyer instruction |
|---|---|
| Thread outside diameter and pitch | Provide the full designation or a measured sample. Similar-looking threads can have different pitches. |
| Usable stem length | Measure the portion that engages the equipment; identify washers, nuts, shoulders and clearance. |
| Seating face | Show the contact surface that supports the caster and how it is retained. |
| Installed height | Define the measurement from the equipment seating face to the floor. Do not add the full stem length to this dimension automatically. |
| Swivel and brake clearance | Show tubes, cross-members, skirting and the space needed for the pedal throughout rotation. |
| Load path | Provide frame construction, loaded equipment weight and required load per caster. |

Stem, Bolt Hole and Square Socket Are Different Interfaces
A threaded stem screws into or through the equipment connection. A bolt-hole caster is fastened through a central opening in the swivel head. These are different mounting constructions; a hole in the top plate is not enough to identify a bolt-hole swivel caster. State which interface appears on the equipment and include a top-view photograph.
Requests for square cup accessories, square-stem casters or removable mounts also need a socket drawing and retention details. A retractable workbench caster lifts or lowers the equipment through an additional mechanism; an ordinary screw-stem caster does not provide that function. Bring these requirements into the drawing review before choosing a wheel diameter.
Quiet Movement with an Assembly-Specific Load Target
TPR can be selected for projects that value quieter movement and a resilient tread, including hotel trolleys and higher-specification commercial furniture. It is also a candidate for industrial carts when the quoted assembly meets the working duty and the budget. Define a double ball bearing wheel if that is required, and distinguish it from the bearing raceways used in the swivel head.
A high-load wheel cannot compensate for an unsuitable thread connection or weak equipment frame. Ask for the rated load of the complete quoted assembly and confirm the engagement and installation requirements. Stainless steel, cleaning exposure, brake holding and any equipment-specific compliance needs are separate specification items.
Locking Luggage Wheels and Square-Cup Accessories
For a locking luggage wheel or a square-cup caster accessory, send the original socket, retention detail and required brake function. A trolley threaded stem is not automatically compatible with a suitcase wheel housing. Luggage-cart and commercial trolley projects should be matched to the actual equipment connection and operating load.
Questions for a Threaded-Stem Order
Can a 5 inch 125 mm rubber swivel trolley caster be supplied with screw mounting and brake?
Use 125 mm diameter, wheel width, complete thread specification and required brake function as the starting request. The quotation should identify the final matched assembly and its installed dimensions.
Can I reuse the thread details from a different caster supplier?
Send the actual drawing, sample or measured interface. Supplier names and codes are not a dimensional standard, and a similar wheel colour does not prove mounting compatibility.
Are these automatically suitable as square-stem scaffolding wheels?
No. Scaffolding wheels require their own structure, retention, brake and testing requirements. A request for a 6 inch caster for a two-layer scaffold must be reviewed as a dedicated application, rather than substituted with an ordinary trolley caster.

Request a Configuration-Matched Quotation
Send the full thread or socket drawing, wheel diameter and width, installed height, swivel clearance, brake requirement, load target and quantity. A marked photo plus an original sample is useful when thread details are unknown.
