Keep a Loaded Cart Travelling in a Predictable Direction

Rigid TPR plate casters use a fixed bracket to keep the wheel aligned with the cart. They are the fixed-direction option for flatbed carts, handcarts, mobile shelves and industrial transport equipment. The TPR tread offers a resilient contact surface for buyers who want quieter movement and a more refined rolling feel than their existing hard-wheel setup.

Choose this page when the main requirement is straight tracking. A rigid caster does not rotate around a swivel head. Its purpose is different from an unbraked universal caster or a swivel caster with a brake, even if the blue wheel diameter is the same.

Two Fixed and Two Swivel Positions: A Useful Starting Layout

For a hand-pushed flatbed cart, two fixed casters at one end and two swivel casters at the steering end are a common starting arrangement. The fixed pair helps the cart follow a line; the swivel pair enables steering. The best layout still depends on the handle position, aisle width, floor route and required lateral movement.

Match overall height across the set so the equipment sits as intended. Keep the rigid wheel axes parallel and check mounting alignment. A mismatched bracket height or angled fixed pair can increase pushing effort and tyre wear. If a trolley needs sideways movement in a confined room, an all-swivel arrangement may be more appropriate.

Dimension and Mounting Options

Common market dimensions can be produced, and special sizes can be developed from your sample or drawing. The dimensions below are ordering options, not measurements taken from the photos. Confirm the complete assembly drawing, load rating and mounting fit before approving an order.

Nominal wheel size Common tread width Fixed-caster selection focus
3 inch / 75 mm 32 mm Compact handcart with limited underside space
4 inch / 100 mm 32 mm Flatbed cart, shelf and indoor transport projects
5 inch / 125 mm 32 mm Frequent movement and a larger wheel envelope
6 inch family / 150 or 160 mm By specified wheel section Confirm exact diameter, installed height and larger bracket
8 inch / 200 mm 40 mm is one market reference Review floor route, axle and bracket requirements

Inch labels are common trade names. Specify the required diameter in millimetres: 3, 4 and 5 inch products may be offered as 75, 100 and 125 mm, or as exact imperial dimensions. These are not automatically interchangeable.

Drawing item Information needed
Top plate Outside dimensions, hole centres, hole or slot dimensions and fixing thickness.
Wheel and axle Diameter, tread width, axle bore, hub width, bearing type and spacer arrangement.
Overall height Match the quoted swivel caster at the other end of the cart.
Material and finish TPR tread, agreed core construction and steel-bracket finish; state washdown or corrosion exposure.
Working load Cart weight plus payload, load distribution, movement frequency, floor joints and speed.

Quiet Rolling and Load Support in the Same Specification

A single axle TPR wheel can be specified with a suitable bearing arrangement for the project. Double ball bearings describe the wheel hub, while “double axle” may refer to a different caster construction. Do not assume that these phrases identify the same product. For a wear-resistant flat-car or hand-cart wheel, also define the floor surface and duty cycle used to evaluate tread wear.

High loads require coordinated selection of wheel, axle, fork and mounting structure. A fixed caster and its swivel partner may have different published limits. Approve the complete set for the loaded cart instead of assuming that four individual headline capacities can simply be added together.

Applications and Purchasing Boundaries

This configuration is a starting point for manually moved carts and mobile shelves. Requests described as trailer wheels or wheelbarrow cart wheels need more detail: specify whether the equipment is pushed by hand, towed, used outdoors or operated on public roads. A trolley caster is not automatically a road-trailer wheel. Seafood carts and wet service areas also require a separate review of the bracket, axle and bearing exposure.

Buyer Questions

Does this fixed caster include a brake?

The fixed-direction configuration on this page is normally quoted without a brake. If the equipment needs parking restraint, specify braked positions elsewhere in the caster set or request a dedicated braking arrangement.

Can the rigid and swivel wheels be packed as one trolley kit?

Yes, the quotation can identify quantities by position and a matched assembly height. State the number of fixed, swivel and braked components required for each cart and the number of carts in the order.

Can a worn wheel be changed without replacing the fixed bracket?

Possibly, if the bracket and axle remain suitable. Compare diameter, tread width, bore, hub length and bearing spacing using the replacement-wheel page before ordering.
