How to Choose 100mm, 110mm, 120mm or 125mm Light-Up Wheels

To choose light-up wheels for scooters and inline skates in 100mm, 110mm, 120mm or 125mm sizes, start with the equipment interface, not the most attractive wheel photograph. For an importer or replacement-parts brand, a reliable order starts with measured wheel, bearing, spacer, axle and frame or fork details.

This guide compares the four size routes used in the Gleam wheel programme and explains when a mixed 120mm-front/80mm-rear set or a 3 × 110mm inline layout needs a position-by-position specification.

Step 1: Measure the Original Wheel

Record the outside diameter, tread width and total hub width with a calliper. Photograph both sides and any writing on the wheel or bearing. For a worn wheel, the measured diameter may be below its original nominal size, so use the equipment manual or an unworn sample when possible. If the geometry differs from the listed references, use our custom PU wheel drawing-review route to define the part.

On three-wheel scooters and mixed-size assemblies, create a simple position map. Front-left, front-right and rear may not share the same bearing, spacer, offset or light generator even if two wheels look alike.

Step 2: Decode the Bearing and Spacer

A standard 608 bearing has a nominal 8mm bore, 22mm outside diameter and 7mm width. Two wheels can both use “608” yet have different total hub widths, internal spacers or axle hardware. State whether bearings are shielded or sealed and whether the supplier installs them, packs them loose or excludes them.

Step 3: Check Diameter and Clearance by Application

100mm replacement wheels

A useful route for selected scooter and large-wheel programmes. Treat the 608 assembly and total wheel width as part of the product name and quotation.

110mm three-wheel inline skates

A 3 × 110 frame must provide clearance at all three positions. Confirm wheel-to-wheel spacing and the edge profile, not only the frame label. For frame positions, profile and application checks, read the LED inline skate wheel selection guide.

120mm scooter front wheels

The available reference drawing is marked 120 × 24mm with a 22mm bearing-seat dimension. Match the original fork, spacer and axle before ordering.

125 × 24mm custom wheels

Use a dedicated drawing or sample. A photograph of a similar 120mm wheel is useful for appearance but cannot prove 125mm fit.

Step 4: Select Hardness Without Overpromising

82A and 85A are common starting directions for scooter wheel projects; 90A may be reviewed for selected inline or speed-oriented uses. Hardness affects feel but does not independently guarantee silence, rebound, wear life or load capacity. Profile, PU formulation, core, surface, speed and complete equipment design also matter.

If rebound or abrasion is essential, name the method and acceptance value in the RFQ. Use the same method and specimen basis when comparing suppliers.

Step 5: Specify the Battery-Free LED System

Magnetic-induction light-up wheels generate electrical power during rotation. Confirm the generator arrangement, LED colour sequence and the sample response at realistic speed. Avoid an unsupported “waterproof” or fixed-brightness promise unless the quotation includes the corresponding test. The battery-free LED and 608 bearing quality guide explains what to include in the assembly and sample-approval specification.

Step 6: Build a Profitable Retail or Wholesale SKU

  • Give every diameter, hardness, colour and pack count a clear SKU.
  • Print only compatibility statements that have been validated on the target model.
  • List whether bearings, spacers and axle hardware are included.
  • Approve colour, logo, barcode, instruction language and carton marks before production.
  • Keep the golden sample and drawing revision for repeat-order receiving inspection.

Wheel-Size Selection FAQ

Can I replace a 120mm wheel with 125mm?

Only after checking the fork/frame, neighbouring components, bearing, spacer and axle. A 5mm nominal increase can remove required clearance.

Is 608 the same as ABEC-7?

No. 608 identifies the bearing size series; ABEC language relates to tolerance classification and does not define seals, lubrication or wheel fit.

Which size is best for a three-wheel scooter?

Use the original manufacturer specification or measured replacement. Some use large front wheels and a smaller rear wheel; others differ.

Should all six 3 × 110 skate wheels be identical?

They are commonly sold as a coordinated set, but confirm the frame layout and any directional marking or generator orientation.

See all options in the light-up scooter wheel product hub and PU skate and scooter wheel category.
